Interchanges

Every Ohio Turnpike exit, west to east

31 interchanges, mile markers, the cities they serve, and the connecting highways. Numbers match mile markers, so distance between exits is a simple subtraction.

Quick answer: 31 interchanges, Exit 2 (Westgate, Indiana border) through Exit 239 (Eastgate, Pennsylvania border). Each exit number equals its mile marker, so Exit 64 (Toledo, I-75) to Exit 173 (Cleveland, I-77) is 109 miles.

About the numbering

Through the late 1990s the Ohio Turnpike used sequential exit numbers counting up from the Indiana border. The Commission adopted milepost-based numbering in 1997 and phased it in over the following years, matching exit numbers to mile markers (milepost 0 at the Indiana line). Today exit number equals approximate mile marker, which makes calculating distance between any two exits a one-step subtraction. Note that exits 142, 151, 215, 216 and 234 are partial interchanges usable in one direction only.

FAQ

How many exits does the Ohio Turnpike have?+
The Ohio Turnpike has 31 interchanges along its 241 miles, from Exit 2 (Westgate, at the Indiana border) to Exit 239 (Eastgate, at the Pennsylvania border), per the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission's official interchange list. Exit numbers correspond to mile markers, with milepost 0 at the Indiana line.
What exit is Cleveland on the Ohio Turnpike?+
Exit 173 (I-77 / SR-21) is the official Cleveland interchange and the natural route downtown. The west side is served by Exit 161 (Strongsville, I-71), Exit 152 (North Olmsted, SR-10) and Exit 151 (North Ridgeville, I-480; westbound entry / eastbound exit only).
What cities does the Ohio Turnpike pass through?+
Going east from the Indiana border: Bryan / Montpelier, Wauseon, the Toledo area (exits 52-71), Fremont, Sandusky (south of), Lorain / Elyria, the Cleveland suburbs (south of the city), Akron (north of, via SR-8), Streetsboro, Ravenna, Warren, Youngstown, then the Pennsylvania border. The mainline runs south of Lake Erie.
Which Ohio Turnpike exits are toll-free to use?+
Exits 13-39 in the far west and exits 215-234 in the far east sit outside the ticketed section. Local trips between exits within one of those zones cross no toll point and are free. Tolls apply when a trip crosses the Westgate barrier (MP 4.6), enters the ticketed section (Swanton to Newton Falls), or crosses Eastgate westbound.
